REI will help Automate Computation of the Complex Funding Formulae for the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act Grant Awards

Sterling, Virginia, October 16, 2012 – The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded REI Systems a new contract to develop new modules for its agency-wide E-Grants platform to administer provisions of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. Valued at $3 Million over four years, the contract expands REI’s support for HRSA’s agency-level Electronic Handbooks E-Grants management platform, through which the agency awards more than $7 Billion annually in grants to support vulnerable and medically underserved communities nationwide.

HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) administers the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program which provides HIV-related healthcare services for those who do not have sufficient health care coverage or financial resources for coping with HIV disease. The program fills gaps in care not covered by other sources. HAB’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program supports more than a half million people each year. Due to legislative and regulatory requirements, multiple steps have to be conducted in this grants-making process, including data collection, data validation, executing the formula calculations, inputting the data within the HRSA E-Grants platform for the funding and awards processing, and data reporting. REI will be tasked with developing the discretionary and formula-based funding and reporting modules that will replace much of the manual data processing currently required to process grants applications.

“REI will automate many steps in the workflow, which promises to relieve HAB staff of manual entry and validation burdens, improve data quality, and facilitate better data reporting on program performance.” said Subhash Kari, REI Systems Vice President, “We are able to leverage the work done for the Bureau of Health Professions and the Bureau of Primary Health Care and apply it across organizational boundaries at HRSA to deliver effective results to HAB.”
