Firm will develop two new portals to support Small Business Innovative Research and Small Business Portal initiatives.

Herndon, VA, November 3, 2010 — REI Systems (REI) announced today it was awarded two new five year contracts with the U.S. Small Business Administration,  each valued at more than $2 million, to develop web portals that support SBA’s oversight role in Small Business Innovation Research Programs government-wide, and a newly created SBA Small Business Portal and Green Procurement initiative.

Under the terms of the first contract, REI will enhance existing “TechNet” data systems and develop new web-based functionality for the SBA’s Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. The new functionality specifically will enable public data access to SBIR/STTR program data, and will enable SBA to meet statutory requirements for program evaluation and performance reporting.

For the second contract, REI will develop a web services platform for small businesses to access federal support resources. The portal will allow independent software developers and Federal agencies to deploy tools based on public data for small businesses to navigate the Federal Government. REI also will develop and manage a platform challenge contest to encourage the public and other Federal agencies to contribute content and resources to the Small Business Platform. REI also will build a micro-site to promote and facilitate green procurement opportunities.

The awards provide REI the opportunity to extend its core capabilities in the SBIR/STTR and web-based performance reporting domains. REI already provides SBIR/STTR program and software support to NASA, and provides a suite of comparable federal performance reporting sites to OMB and GSA. These contracts represent the first for REI in support of the Small Business Administration.

“In our early days, REI benefitted both from SBA support programs and a NASA SBIR grant,” said REI Systems Science and Technology Program Manager, Samidha Manu. “We are pleased that SBA has entrusted us with two highly visible initiatives that will help innovative small businesses establish themselves in the Federal marketplace.”
