REI Systems will sponsor GWU’s annual Flemming Awards, honoring exemplary federal employees, and launch an annual lecture on government innovation.
(Sterling, VA) – REI Systems, a leading provider of innovative technology solutions for the government, is proud to announce the expansion of its partnership with George Washington University’s Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration.
In 2016, REI and GWU first partnered with the National Grants Management Association to run an annual survey for grants management professionals. Together, they convene key leaders in the field at a Grants Management Breakfast or webinar to reveal the results and discuss best practices.
As one of the leading public affairs schools in the country, The Trachtenberg School is an ideal partner for REI in its mission to reimagine government. GWU’s rigorous research approach complements REI’s ability to innovate for mission impact.
That’s why REI is proud to deepen the partnership as the lead sponsor of the 76th annual Arthur S. Flemming Awards.
Since 1948, the annual Flemming Awards have recognized outstanding federal employees who pioneer spearhead ambitious projects that improve people’s lives or lead to important discoveries. Previous winners include Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Paul Volcker, Neil Armstrong, and Robert Gates.
Twelve exceptional public servants will be honored this year at a ceremony on November 2, 2025, at the National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, DC. This year’s recipients have transformed how victims of terrorism are compensated, revolutionized military space station-keeping activities, and developed the research infrastructure that could lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s.
“Working with GW and the Flemming Awards team is a very exciting step for us,” said Wagish Bhartiya, Chief Growth Officer at REI Systems. “The brilliant work of the recipients inspires all of us. They’re exactly the kind of passionate people REI loves supporting as we make government more reliable, effective, and innovative.
REI will champion ideas pioneered by GWU and directly implement them into actual day-to-day practice of government. This includes establishing an annual “REImagining Government” lecture, featuring a notable government leader or faculty/researcher offering research or perspectives at the cutting edge of government, innovation, and AI. They will also collaborate on in-person Breakfast Forum events focused on timely topics in government, and continue the Grants Survey, with possible expansion into new areas.
“We’ve been thrilled to work with REI Systems in recent years,” said Kathy Newcomer, Director of the GWU Trachtenberg School. “Their dedication to building long-term trust with leaders and innovating to serve the public are exactly the kinds of values that form the foundation of good government.”
