On May 8th, REI Systems’ Kishore Vuppala and Denny Chiramel co-published a two-part article on NextGov titled, “How to Transform Your Agency’s IT Now So the Future is Affordable.” This article summarizes IT principles agencies should adopt when developing new IT infrastructure and minimizing operational costs, noting that government focus on current operations and maintenance (O&M) stifles progress in IT innovation and growth compared to the private sector. In response, the article offers many solutions, such as monitoring and reviewing online dashboards and automated tools that enable spending transparency.
