It has been an exciting couple of months here at REI Systems. We have continued celebrating our 30th Anniversary with events on the 30th of each month to say “THANK YOU” to our employees. Events have included a Kona Ice Truck, Barista Bar, Trail Mix Treats, and even a Tailgate Party! Fall is by far our favorite season and we have embraced the pumpkin spice lifestyle with fun fall festivities throughout the month including an indoor pumpkin patch for employees, with fall treats included. We celebrated Halloween with a pumpkin cooking contest, pumpkin carving, and of course a costume content. Culture is important to us here, to see more, check out all of the fun we have been up to on our Facebook page.
We also launched the 2019 Grants Management Survey. We issue this survey every year in the fall with George Washington University and the National Grants Management Association (NGMA). The results will be valuable to federal, state, local, nonprofit, and university grants managers. It has been proven that the results of this annual survey have helped drive federal policy priorities. In fact, two years ago, your survey responses helped drive federal policy, via the President’s Management Agenda. The survey will close on Friday November 22nd, so don’t wait, take the survey and make your voice heard!

Announcements
We recently released the results of our 2019 Government Analytics Survey “Are Analytics Important to Government?” REI Systems partnered with Johns Hopkins University & ACT-IAC to help identify key practices, resources used and needed, major challenges, and related topics that help inform the government analytics community. Results from the survey included 3 key areas of interest: 1) Analytics make a big impact: When making significant decisions, most agencies use analytics. 82% of respondents say analytics were dominant, significant, or at least “equal to other factors.” 2) Gathering data takes too much time: Analytics professionals spend more time gathering data than they dedicate to analyzing it. Survey respondents reported spending 23% of their time gathering data, versus 8% analyzing data, 14% communicating results, and 10% acting on the analysis. 3) Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) is getting a lot of talk, but not much action: 26% of respondents believe AI/ML holds the most promise for improving government, but less than 4% are using AI/ML now. Read more about survey results and their implications in NextGov, here.
